The Foundation for Global Sports Development is committed to empowering youth through education. Our Exceptional Youth Scholarship recognizes youth who have demonstrated remarkable conduct through community service efforts, volunteerism and mentor-ship activities, in addition to achieving outstanding academic performance.

A total of ten (10) high school seniors will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $5,000 each to be applied towards cost of attendance including tuition, housing, books and other on-campus related expenses at accredited, four-year colleges and universities in the United States. The Fontana Transport Inc. Scholars Program is open to underrepresented, low-income and first-generation college-bound students. Students must be pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time in transportation, math, science, engineering, architecture, environmental design, PreMed, psychology, Spanish language/literature. The applicant does not have to be a U.S. citizen but must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and proof of attending college beginning in the fall semester.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides a multi-faceted experience designed to not only address the financial needs of students who aspire to attend college but to guide them through the process of higher education.To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:
– Be a graduating, minority high school senior
– Be a United States citizen
– Present evidence of financial need
– Demonstrate a record of academic excellence
– Demonstrate leadership potential and a dedication to community service
– Plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year college within the United States or affiliated with a United States-based college or university
– Have not accrued more than 25% of credits needed to graduate from college.

The Annie L. Dawson Foundation awards scholarships to college-bound high school students based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and an express interest in pursuing a college degree. Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in a one time payment directly to the intended educational institution. Students must be in good standing and maintain no lower than a 2.0 grade point average or equivalent. (I was one of the winner and they select 20 winner every year)

The goal of the GMS program is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential by:Reducing financial barriers for African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with high academic and leadership promise who have significant financial need.

GMS selects 1,000 new Scholars each year and we are now funding over 20,000 Gates Scholars since 2000. Approximately 54% of scholars are first-generation students – the first ones in their families to go to college. The average undergraduate GPA is just over 3.0.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) selects 10,000 scholars annually to receive awards ranging from $500 to $5,000. More than merely providing financial support, HSF offers recipients services such as leadership development, career training, and mentorship. This scholarship was set up as a memorial to Jean DeGrace Crandall, educator and friend to the migrant community. She worked as a Tutor Advocate for the Mid-Hudson Migrant Education Outreach Program (MEOP), a folklorist for the Dutchess County Arts Council and was the owner/operator of La Mula Chula in Rhinebeck, a store featuring fair-trade Mexican folk art, which she imported herself. An annual scholarship will be awarded for post-secondary assistance to a migrant farmworker or child of a migrant farmworker (with a preference for those from Mexico) with a history of migration to Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, or Westchester Counties in New York State. Though not required, but because of Jean’s personal interests, students with a demonstrated interest in traditional Mexican art and culture are especially encouraged to apply.

The Jeff Sein Kwan Yang Memorial Scholarship is funded by the family of Jeff Sein Kwan Yang, who believed that “an education broadened a person’s opportunities and possibilities.” Through the scholarship, they hope to honor Jeff Sein Kwan Yang’s legacy and provide financial support to students who are immigrants or children of immigrants in their pursuit of higher education. Every year, the Jeff Sein Kwan Yang Memorial Scholarship awards $1,000 to multiple high school seniors residing in the San Gabriel Valley area who are immigrants or the children of immigrants.
