Student Life
  • CollegeCare: matching each international student with a personal advisor to help them develop and grow academically and personally. This includes many services from registering for classes, planning academically, to accommodation needs medical assistance.
    • CounselorConnect: meeting with a personal advisor at least twice a month to discuss progress, plans, and any help you need in college and daily life. Most advisors are graduates from universities such as Columbia, Stanford, Duke, Michigan, and the University of Virginia. On average, students received 150 hours of one-to-one coaching and advising with personal advisors
    • Academic Support: help students with a personalized study plan, choosing major, registering for classes, setting up tutoring services.
    • Cultural and Social Support: 24/7 emergency hotline is available, in-depth orientation for students before starting their academic experience. Personal advisors also helped with the transition to American life such as opening a bank account, transportation to/from school every day, participating in social and sports events on and off-campus.
    • Personal and Professional Development: personal advisors will use their experience to mentor students academically, help them seek volunteering and extracurricular activities, take students to visits to major local businesses, give advice on internships and help with letters of recommendation.
Intensive English Program
  • Each host campus offers its own unique ESL program for students to choose from:
  • PVCC: offers ESL program at 5 different levels, advanced online ESL class is also available while self-study ESL courses are free.
  • COM: offers free General ESL classes, Academic ESL classes, and a fee-based Intensive English Program. Students can take classes for credit or not.
  • CSM: offers ESL programs in 4 levels, from low-intermediate to advanced.
  • SMC: offers in-class and online ESL courses. Many ESL resources and practices are free.
