Joseph Hayes
Guidance Counselor at Mayfield High School Lead Counselor for Career
Technical Education consortium Excel TECC

“ISSA uses their vast experience in working with international students both in the Excel TECC programs and also at Mayfield High School. They provided consulting services at no cost to assist international students with preparing for the college search and admission process. Haowen Ge and his staff have been extremely helpful with staff training, college planning and parent meetings to prepare students and guide them successfully through the college admissions process. ISSA also works with students to identify scholarship options for students. Our international students and staff have greatly benefited from working with ISSA. I give my highest recommendation for ISSA as your source for helping your international students.”

“I told ISSA staff I only want to go to the University of Cincinnati. They told me that they can help me and provide me the strategy to help me get into UC. I went to the ISSA office and they assisted me in applying for UC. ISSA has been contacting the admission counselor from UC to see any other documents they need from me and also providing me with updates all the time. After all the hard work myself and ISSA staff put into, finally UC sent me an email to congratulate me that I was getting accepted to the school of Business at UC. ISSA staff are really encouraging and assisting me to find the scholarship that best fits me to apply. I am really appreciative of all the support that ISSA provides to me. Without help there is no way I can go to my dream school at UC for fall 2020”

“ISSA really provides my daughter with valuable suggestions such as using scientific assessment to provide a detailed result on what type of career that might best fit for her and what kind major that might interest my daughter. Another biggest help is that ISSA provided my family a really valuable campus visit process. The team is really professional and also has a really good relationship with all these universities we have been visiting to schedule a campus visit, classroom shadowing and free lunch with college students and faculty to learn more about that university. They provide excellent service to my children. It really helps us as parents to have peace of mind on the college planning process.”

“ISSA especially helps the college process for international students who might feel lost during the college research. ISSA also keeps track of my college decision sincerely. They email me questions regarding my thoughts on which college to attend and gives me advice on where to take the next step. I was amazed by how hard they care about my process from start to end, even about my particular research in my high school. They are always willing to reach out for what I need whether it is for high school, college, or future. For example, I applied to graphic design/communication design for every college I applied to. Then, they told me about majoring in art and minoring in marketing at the same time. They really gave me the new sight of having better decisions for my future job.”

“ I would like to thank Haowen and his team for their huge assistance. He and his team gave me (and my daughter) a great help in the preparation of the college application process. With a different educational system than my country, I (and my wife) had initially some difficulties in guiding my daughter to make college lists to be applied. They introduced and recommended a number of colleges providing detailed information about them which contains rank, tuition, and program etc. ISSA continuously tried to give scholarship and financial aid information for my daughter which was very useful to know the sources through email, text and phone call. I wouldn’t be able to catch up with some of them if they didn’t inform us. I really appreciate that.”

“ISSA helped me to find better choices and apply to a lot of good schools, which one of them can be my first choice now. I am really thankful that ISSA helped me a lot to identify colleges and their prices, so that I can choose which college is a good fit for me but also affordable for my family. A lot of things we might not know about what types of scholarships I can get. For example I didn’t even know that I can get a scholarship for being a cheerleader. ISSA assisted me in identifying the scholarship options. I am currently getting a $63,000 dollars scholarship to cover my tuition expense for four years at the University of Mount Union, which is one of my top choice schools to go to for fall 2020. Without ISSA I probably had a less choice to even go to college in the U.S.A.”

“ISSA really provides me with a good game plan and it releases a lot of stress on my family. For example, I am not really good at the standard test due to my language problem and the ISSA staff really offers a strategy to help me out. For example, ISSA staff provides me with the strategy to help me improve my test score for the ACT. The ISSA team really provided me with a lot of the assessment that really tested me out what kind of career and what type of school I should attend. It really provides me and my parents with a peace of mind knowing that we will have a good result regarding what’s the best college that fits for me to attend.”

“ ISSA would look at my academic performance and interest to find the best match scholarship options for me. ISSA also helped me negotiate the scholarship amount I would receive from the university and helped me receive the most amount of scholarship possible for me. Usually, it is really challenging for international students to receive a scholarship for college. I am really appreciative of all the resources and guidelines provided to me to receive the scholarship to attend Kent State University. I am happy to be awarded a $16,000 merit scholarship for attending my dream school for four years. That is Awesome!!”
