Gain experience through education

Getting a degree is one of the most common ways to gain your professional experience. A college degree can help you qualify for jobs, get promoted in your career, and earn more money.

Beyond high school, you have many postsecondary opportunities to consider. But there are 2 main types of college degrees:

  • Trade School, also known as a technical school, is a postsecondary educational institution designed to train students for a specific job in a skilled trade career. Most importantly, a trade school offers hands-on training to prepare students for actual work in their chosen field.
  • An Associate’s Degree offers a 2-year program taken at the undergraduate level. It aims to give students basic technical and academic knowledge and transferable skills they need to go on to employment or further study in their field.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree requires students to enroll in a 4-year full-time program at the undergraduate level. The degree will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue various career options. While most students enroll in a Bachelor’s degree from high school, many also transfer from an Associate’s Degree.
